Detecting Disease via Mobile Phone

Laura White from Newcastle University interviewed Professor Jeremy Lakey, Dr Dale Athey and Dr

Andrew Sails about OJ-Bio's core technology and its applications.

Find out how OJ-Bio's technology could soon be used in remote parts of the developing world to

diagnose infectious diseases, and in homes in the Western world to manage chronic illnesses.

Professor Jeremy Lakey explains how Orla's protein immobilisation technology based on a

research project at Newcastle University is used to convert Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) chips into

biosensors capable of detecting biomarkers in samples. The resulting device enables tests to be

carried out quickly, easily and on the spot.
